New to Boxing, Kickboxing or Muay Thai?
At Catch & Counter, no previous experience or high level of fitness is required. Our beginner-friendly classes coach you step-by-step, allowing you to learn the fundamentals at your own pace in a friendly, supportive environment.
What happens in your first session?
Your first session at Catch & Counter is designed to be welcoming and pressure-free. We’ll introduce you to our gym and your coach, then guide you through the basic stance and fundamental movements. You’ll then learn simple boxing, kickboxing, or Muay Thai techniques at your own pace. There’s no pressure to spar or perform beyond your comfort level, ensuring a positive and encouraging start to your martial arts journey.
What should I bring?
- Comfortable sports clothing
- Water
- Boxing gloves if you have them
- Hand wraps if you have them
- Kickboxing training is barefoot on the mats. For Boxing you can wear boxing boots or clean indoor trainers
- Don’t have equipment? No problem — we’ll help you get started
What should I expect?
Our beginner sessions are structured to help you learn without feeling overwhelmed. You'll work on basic technique, movement, padwork and fitness, with coaching and partner work introduced progressively as you become more comfortable.
Do I need to be fit or experienced?
At Catch & Counter, complete beginners are always welcome. You do not need any previous martial arts experience or a high level of fitness to start training. Our classes are designed so that training can be adapted to your individual ability, and beginners gradually build fitness, technique, and confidence. There is no expectation for you to spar when you are just starting out.

What should I wear?

Which class should I attend if I’m completely new?
Start with Beginner Kickboxing. If you’re specifically interested in boxing, our Boxing sessions are also suitable for beginners.

Do you have childrens classes?
No. All classes and 1-to-1 coaching are 16yrs +
